Melt Lymphatics

Love your horses’ lymph

The lymphatic system is an exciting and often misunderstood system of the body.

Vital for life, the lymphatic system in horses is delicate and requires different techniques compared to traditional massage techniques.

Manual lymphatic drainage, decongestive wrapping and kinesiotaping are my favorite treatment techniques, and provides many benefits to horses.

From high level competition horses to golden oldies enjoying retirement, keeping you horses lymphatic system healthy is vital.

Who am I?

I have been around horses since I was 11 and found every opportunity I could to learn more about them!

While completing my Diploma in Remedial Therapy I was introduced to the lymphatic system and wanted to learn more about how we can apply manual lymphatic drainage to horses. At that time, equine manual lymphatic drainage was not a recognised modality in Australia nor was it possible to get training in Australia.

I kept learning as much as I could about treating horses and human lymphatic therapies.

Post Covid, I was lucky enough to be in position to make this change in Australia! I travelled to the USA to learn the final piece needed to get equine manual lymphatic drainage accepted as a modality in Australia and New Zealand.

With thanks to Theresa from HEAL, not only was my dream of learning lymphatic decongestive treatments for horses possible, its now my career.

What are lymphatic therapies?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a technique dedicated and completely focused on the lymphatic system,

MLD based on the Vodder technique used for human and follows the same principles with pressure and direction.

Many horses can enjoy the benefit of MLD.

Kinesiotaping

Taping can help lymphatic, muscular, joint and proprioception.

Hestaband is not only a versatile tape to use, but also endorsed by Equestrian Canada and developed by world famous therapist Christa Veinotte.

Decongestive Wrapping

Decongestive wrapping is applying even pressure supporting the lymphatic system.

Decongestive wrapping is used for horses that have lymphedema and need extra support long term to help support the structural integrity of the leg.
